“Is the financial system more than plumbing? (…) I think we need to go back to thinking the financial system as essentially plumbing and giving it the right status as plumbing, in the sense that people kind of allowed the financial system (…) to be elevated to a status which probably it didn’t deserved (…).
Sure it’s important and when the financial system fails we all notice but we shouldn’t con ourselves into believing that the future of any economy should hinge on one sector and it’s ability to contribute UNLESS it’s doing the basic plumbing job it’s meant to do.”
